Blogoforum Blogoforum - Require registration

recent > blogoforum > suggestion > registration

Have you thought about requiring registration? I thought it was really annoying that I posted something and it wasn't attributed to me because I forgot to log in. This could also cut down on spam, especially if you require a valid e-mail and confirmation.

RE: Require registration

You are right James! I will change the interface to point that you're posting unregistered.

Spam and message noise is a problem: http://blogoforum.com/tag/blogoforum+community+forum/forum-signal-to-noise-1320.html
I was concerned with noise rate which comes to Blogoforum these days. But then I looked on it under new angle.

People come here and are faced with a new kind of website they never seen. They probably don't have something valuable to write about but what they want is to know how this new thing works. They write one or two "hello" messages and get the knowledge about Blogoforum this way. Next time they'll return they will find a category for their interest.

Letting or rejecting unregistered to post is more a question of - will Blogoforum gather big enough base of registered users to make conversations between them possible?
