What I dislike about current tagclouds is that there is ONE HUGE TAG, and 90% of the remainig tags are very small. It looks like the cloud is 90% trash.

I suggest:

- Filtering out the least frequent tags
- Applying a logarightm function to the tag sizes. It will reduce the graphical domination of the most frequent tags. I did it with my project: http://automatthias.wordpress.com/2006/07/26/size-and-color/ and it works fine.

Another idea about the tags. The capacity of the tag cloud is limited. If you have more that certain number of tags in the cloud, it will be unreadable. On the other hand, the most popular tags can be uninteresting. For example, the most frequent tag, "forum", means more or less -- nothing. The idea is to restrict the cloud to tags of certain _range_ of popularity.

Have you used last.fm? They have similar feature with "recommended music". You can drag a slider and last.fm reacts by showing more popular or less popular bands. As a simple version of it, Blogoforum could have a feature of filtering out also the most frequent tags (as an option).

I don't know if it's a good idea. It's just an idea for now.
